Saturday, for the day and have access to the Star Pass resort’s lazy river
and pool. Plus there are a number of important meetings including SOYO,
Antiochian Women, and the keynote addresses from our friend, Fr. John
Erickson. More importantly we would be together as a community showing love

Dear Saint Ignatius of Antioch Faithful Friends and Family,

Hope you had a nice Memorial Day holiday this past weekend.

Just a reminder that we are in the *Apostle’s Fast* until June 29th. The
Apostles' Fast is not as severe as Great Lent or the Dormition Fast, but
entails fasting from red meat, poultry, meat products, eggs, dairy products,
fish, oil, and wine. Fish, wine and oil are allowed on Saturdays and
Sundays, and oil and wine are allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These
fasting rules are much the same as those observed during the Nativity Fast.
As with the three other Fasts of the Church year, there is a Great Feast
that falls during the Apostles' Fast; in this case, the Feast of the
Nativity of St. John the Baptist (June 24). The tradition of the Fast has
existed at least since Pope Leo I (461 AD), as is evidenced by his homilies,
though it has subsequently been forgotten in the West. The Fast is thought
to have been instituted out of thanksgiving to God for the witness of the
apostles of Christ.

*Coffee hour* this Sunday is in honor of our graduates. Congratulations to
our 8th grade graduates: Linsey, Gunner and Emma and to our high school
graduates: Lauren, Alex, John and Nathan. Please inform and forgive me if we
have missed anyone. Come this Sunday and congratulate them.

During announcements we will also thank our 2009-2010 *Sunday School
teachers*, Lenore, Carol, Zaha and Rowe, for another wonderful year.

Lastly, please remember to pray for *Carol Skocypec* who is traveling to
Ukraine on a mission trip.

Love in Christ,

Fr. James

Dear Faithful Friends and Family of Saint Ignatius of Antioch Mission,

Hope this email finds you well in the Lord Jesus Christ during this Holy
Spirit week! Just a reminder that there is no fasting permitted this week.
Happy Feast!

We want to remember to thank our Sunday School teachers after another
wonderful year. Thank you Lenore, Carol, Zaha and Rowe. Sunday School is
always recognized as one of the most important ministries we engage in at
Saint Ignatius. We are thankful for you and for how you have blessed not
only the children and their families but the entire congregation. May God
bless you as you have blessed us. Thank you for a job well done.

This Sunday we are blessed to have Fr. John Bethancourt, my spiritual father
and friend, from Santa Fe with us for the Divine Liturgy. He will be
preaching and serving with me. Can’t wait!

Love in Christ,

Fr. James
